『戦争めし 11』は、戦後80周年にあたる昭和100年目の夏に発売される、歴史と食をテーマにした人気シリーズの第11弾です。本作では、台湾中部の雲林県にある日本帝国海軍の特攻基地跡を舞台に、日本統治時代から続く「食」の物語が描かれています。また、太平洋戦争中に醤油工房を営む家族の物語や、満州の遊牧民に憧れた少年義勇兵とお汁粉のエピソード、世界の戦闘糧食の秘話など、さまざまな短編が収録されています。歴史の断片が丁寧に語られ、読者に感動と平和への願いを届けます。オール短編形式で構成されたこの作品は、令和7年の夏に発売され、多くの人に歴史の真実と温かさを伝えます。
『War Meals 11』 is the 11th installment of a popular series that explores the themes of history and food, set for release in the summer of the 100th year of the Showa era, marking 80 years since the end of the war. This work is set in the site of a Japanese Imperial Navy special attack base in Yunlin County, central Taiwan, and tells the story of food traditions that have been passed down since the Japanese colonial period. It also features the story of a family that ran a soy sauce workshop during the Pacific War, as well as episodes such as a young volunteer soldier who dreamed of the nomadic life of Manchurian herders and the tale of oshiruko (sweet red bean rice pudding). The series also includes stories about global rations used in wartime and the Happy New Year celebrations on the battlefield, including the touching story of mochi pounding and ozoni (New Year’s soup). These stories are carefully told, delivering both emotional depth and a message of peace. Composed entirely of short stories, this work will be released in the summer of Reiwa 7 and aims to convey the truth of history and its warmth to many people.
